African Languages Lab was doing world-class research that read like a research paper. We built the website, the positioning, and the always on presence that turns un-copyable data and peer reviewed proof into an enterprise story the whole world can actually buy into.
01 - The Client
African Languages Lab (All Lab) is the leading African language AI research and deployment company. Its flagship, Mansa, is a production-grade multimodal model handling translation and speech across 30+ African languages, already integrated into enterprise localisation platforms like Phrase and Blackbird. Behind it sits All Voices, a proprietary data pipeline built by expert African linguists, and a body of peer-reviewed research published on arXiv with co-authors across UCLA, Georgia Tech, Cornell, and Columbia. The substance was extraordinary. The marketing had to make the world feel it.
02 - The Challenge
All Lab had the rarest problem in deep tech: work too good for its own marketing. The research was rigorous, the data moat was real, the enterprise integrations were live, but the story was buried under benchmarks and jargon only other researchers could read. Four audiences needed four different things from the same brand: enterprises needed reliability, partners needed credibility, funders needed vision, contributors needed a mission to join. And "African language AI" reads too easily as charity, when what All Lab actually sells is enterprise infrastructure. The work needed a home, a story, and a living presence that could keep pace with a lab shipping something new almost every week.
"The research was world-class. It just didn't sound like it yet."
03 - The Insight
In a world where anyone can rent a language model, the only unbeatable advantage is data no one else can get.
All Lab's moat isn't the size of its model. It's 19 billion tokens and over 12,000 hours of aligned speech, collected and validated by native-speaking African linguists through All Voices, data that cannot be scraped, bought, or copied by any lab on earth. So we stopped positioning All Lab as a mission-driven underdog and started positioning it as the owner of the one asset the AI giants cannot build for themselves. Inclusion isn't the charity. It's the infrastructure.
